We recommend children first see a dentist when they are young, as they start to get accustomed to the sights, and sounds of a dental practice. We guide parents as to the best way to clean their child’s teeth, and discuss factors that can affect their dental health as they grow. By ages 4 – 6, most kids visit the dentist for their routine hygiene visits. Parents are welcome to bring their child with them to their regular hygiene appointment to get them accustomed to the environment and our staff.

We recommend six monthly regularly hygiene visits for all children and teenagers. During the ages of 6-12, we will review their need for any preventative dentistry, and review the growth and eruption of all their adult teeth. Once all their adult teeth have erupted, we will give options to straighten their smile if needed, and maintain their oral health with regular maintenance visits.

Routine Hygiene visits are essential to review the health and growth of your child’s teeth and gums. During these visits, we can guide them as to their brushing technique as well as any dietary advice required. Preventative fissure sealants are routinely performed on adult molars that come through at both ages 6 and 12. If needed, dental imaging and x-ray’s are performed to review if there is any decay present in between teeth as well as the growth of the adult dentition.

It is very important to visit your dentist before, during and after pregnancy. We understand that the first few months after pregnancy is a very important time, and things will get quite busy for you. During pregnancy, it is important to take extra care of your teeth and gums. There are risks of dental erosion due to reflux, as well as an increased chance of developing gum disease.
