Invisalign Braces

Stainless steel braces are the traditional option that most people think of when they read about orthodontic treatment. It consists of small metal brackets that are attached and fitted to the front of your teeth with a wire running between them. Different sized wires are used to gradually move your teeth into the desired position.

Clear or Ceramic Braces are an alternative to the traditional metal braces. The differences lie within the Ceramic brackets that are a more discreet way to straighten your smile. The clear ceramic brackets are fitted and attached to the front of your teeth with the metal wire running through them. These near invisible braces feature the highest level of control while still being aesthetically pleasing. This is a more discrete and an attractive alternative to stainless steel braces.

Keeping your initial outlay minimal, and spreading the costs out over the duration of your Orthodontic Treatment means that getting the smile you deserve has never been easier.

Invisalign: Simplified Teeth Straightening

The treatment procedure uses multiple sets of clear, custom-made aligners to correct your teeth alignment and biting issues. Invisalign treatment can address a range of moderately complex issues, including malocclusion.

Compared to other orthodontic options, Invisalign is advanced and provides you with the following benefits:

  • It is hard for others to notice that you are going through the treatment as you get clear aligners.
  • These removable aligners help improve your oral hygiene as you can remove them while brushing and eating.
  • Made from plastic and no metal parts and sharp edges, Invisalign aligners gives you a comfortable, painless teeth-straightening experience.
  • Compared to other orthodontic options, Invisalign gives you quicker results – in 6 to 18 months.
  • The entire treatment is designed in specialised software, allowing you to know the outcome during the treatment planning stage.

Though Invisalign can address most orthodontic issues, it is not an excellent choice for complex teeth alignment issues. During the smile assessment, we will confirm whether the orthodontic option can work for you. If not, we will guide you to alternate options that can address your concerns.

The Invisalign Treatment

At The Smile Designer, we begin the treatment with a smile assessment that helps us to confirm whether Invisalign can fix your orthodontic issues. We will take digital X-rays and images to identify your teeth alignment issues and create a tailored treatment plan.

We use intra-oral scanners to take digital impressions of your teeth and oral structure. The use of technology helps us to get accurate data while providing you with a hassle-free treatment experience. We will use these digital impressions and data to plan and create custom clear aligners.

What is clear aligner treatment?

The custom clear aligners are created in an Invisalign laboratory, and you will get 18-30 aligners if you are getting the complete treatment. The clear aligners are in order and must be worn accordingly during different periods– each set to be worn for two weeks.

We will instruct you on how to wear the aligners and provide you with tips and suggestions to ensure optimal oral hygiene and maintenance while using the aligners.

We will ask you to visit us every six weeks for monitoring teeth movement. Our clear aligner Melbourne team will check and ensure that your teeth are moving as per the treatment plan. If necessary, we will make adjustments to your treatment plan to get accurate results based on the outcome expected from the treatment.

How Do Invisalign Aligners Work?

Knowing how Invisalign aligners work can help you follow the guidelines and get the optimal results. The aligners are designed to fit around your teeth and make gentle pushes to move your teeth to the correct position. Importantly, not all the teeth are moved together; instead, they are moved in batches.

This means that each set of aligners are designed to address different alignment issues. You should wear the aligners in the correct order. Using the aligners in the incorrect order can slow down the treatment and complicate your teeth alignment issues.

Though these are removable aligners, you have to wear them at least 22 hours a day to get the best results. This means that you should wear the aligners all the time except while brushing and eating.

At The Smile Designer, we have specialised Invisalign plans for children. We also offer Invisalign® i7 and Invisalign Lite to address minor dental issues, and the treatment is often completed in 3 to 9 months with 7-14 clear aligners.

Is Invisalign treatment painful?

Will Invisalign affect my Speech?

Most patients inform us that Invisalign does not affect their speech. There is always an initial period at the beginning where we have to get used to having something new and foreign in our mouths.

How often do i need to change my aligners?

The aligners must be worn all the time except when you eat or clean your teeth. Invisalign recommends 22 hours a day of aligner wear. Each aligner is normally worn for 2 weeks, but the exact treatment schedule will be discussed by one of our dentists.

What is the best way to clean my aligners and retainers?

The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing them and rinsing them under lukewarm water. Special cleaning tablets for dental appliances can be bought over the counter from your local supermarket and pharmacy as well. It is important that you brush your teeth after each meal and before re-inserting the aligner back into your mouth.
